As a founding member and bandleader of the Dynasticks, "Detroit's Spirit of Polkas," Tony revolutionized the sound of Polish music in the Detroit area. A gifted drummer and singer, he captivated audiences with his performances, which began at the young age of 16 alongside Polka Hall of Fame trumpet player Marion Lush. Tony's passion for music created cherished memories for many and fostered a lively community of dancers and enthusiasts who will remember him fondly.
Tony’s talents extended beyond music. He was an accomplished bowler, achieving multiple perfect 300 games, and an avid golfer who cherished the annual golf trips to Treetops with his dad and brothers. Proud of his Polish heritage, Tony held family traditions close to his heart, such as making homemade kielbasa before Easter and Christmas and performing Kolendy, the beloved Polish Christmas carols, at the PRCU in Wyandotte. Christmas was his favorite holiday, a time when his warmth and love for family shone brightest.
Beloved son of the late Wallace and Joan Kempinski, Tony is survived by his devoted siblings: Mitch, Jim (Cindi), Joe (Carla), Donna (Jim) Sutherland, and Joanie Selakowski. He was preceded in death by his brother Richard. Tony was the loving uncle of Sheri (Andy), Nicole, Kara, Daniel, Erika, Luke, and Ella.
