Arthur Leonard Wysocki - "Art Wyse"
December 24, 1929 - September 14, 2025
Beloved husband of the late Casimira “Cassie”. Cherished father of Sharon (Jerry Macy) and Dan (Mary). Loving grandpa of Jacob, Alyssa, and Grace.
Arthur Leonard Wysocki, 95, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 14th with family by his side. Art was born in Detroit on December 24th, 1929 to Stella and Stanley. He grew up on Willette St. attending Hanneman Elementary and Chadsey High School. Art started playing music at a young age, with Mr. Figurski, his father’s cousin, giving him lessons for years. He would walk to his house nearly every day as there was “no skipping sax & clarinet”. When he was 17, he formed his 1st band, the Royal Knights. As the front man, he gained the confidence and exposure he needed to evolve into the Art Wyse Band, playing throughout the Tri-County area for the next 65 years. Hard to imagine that during his peak, he played nearly 100 jobs a year.
Art met Cassie in 1950 at a high school dance. She loved that Art was a musician but it was his leopard print car seat covers that sealed the deal. They married in May of 1954 and moved to Colonial St. in Dearborn Heights, where they lived for their 69 years of marriage. In addition to playing jobs on the weekends, Art began working for Ford Motor Company in 1956 as a Purchasing Launch Coordinator. When the kids were young, he went to night school, earning his Bachelor’s Degree in Business through the University of Detroit.
Through his membership in the Alhambra, a Catholic Fraternal Order, he began organizing concerts for special needs children on Circus Day at the Shrine Circus. What a high this gave him; he had found a way to give back. Soon his concerts spanned throughout the school district each Christmas and in Hines Park during the summer. Working with the police, the County Leaders and the Mayor, he was able to get the help he needed. When the school system could no longer afford buses for transport, Art brought the concerts to them; a tradition that spanned nearly 30 years.
He retired from Ford Motor Company in 1991 after 35 years and was able to enjoy 34 years of retirement! He and Cassie had many friends, frequenting all the regular spots, Menka’s, DeLuca’s, and Sabina’s. Art loved to plan trips both home and abroad, often times taking along the entire family. We will forever remember him by the joy he brought to so many through his music. A spiritual man to the end, he taught us the importance of thanking God for our gifts by using them to give back to others.
