Assunta Giuliano, loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, passed away on Saturday, January 23, 2021. Assunta was born on April 27, 1934 in Costacciaro (Umbria) Italy, to Paris Bucciarelli and Ida Antonini Bucciarelli. Assunta helped her mother knitting on looms in their home and helping in the fields. At the age of 18, she married Salvatore Giuliano in 1952. They celebrated 68 years of marriage in 2020. In 1956 with her husband and their two-year-old daughter they made their transatlantic voyage to the United States of America, seeking the American Dream. They settled in Dearborn, Michigan, and raised their family there, until moving to Farmington Hills, Michigan and later moved to Northern Michigan and finally Williamston, Michigan, to live with their daughter Elizabeth to care for her with the help of granddaughters Lindee and Laura. Assunta and Salvatore enjoyed wintering in Boynton Beach, Florida in a community filled with many Italians and relatives, enjoying the sunshine and warm weather. Assunta loved playing bingo, cards, and casino trips. She loved playing the lotto and enjoyed scratch-off tickets too. Assunta was very competitive at cards and loved to win. She was a talented knitter, crochetier, and cook. Many of her recipes have been passed down to her daughters. Assunta loved her family, especially her 10 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren, who have a lifetime of memories shared with their Nonna. Assunta is survived by her husband of 68 years, Salvatore, her daughters, Tina Giuliano Murphy, Pauline (Paul) Wolski, and Elizabeth Giuliano, grandchildren Meghan, Maureen, Melissa, Molly, Blair II, Robert, Stephanie, Trevor, Laura, and Lindee, great-grandchildren, Brenden, Isabella, Masen, Vincent, Regan, Joseph, Declan, Shane, Mila, Blair, Domenico, Marco, Clair, and Sloane. She is also survived by her brother Bruno (Elena) Bucciarelli and sister Laura Castellani of Luxembourg and many nieces and nephews both here and in Italy. She was preceded in death by her infant daughter MaryAnn, parents Paris and Ida Bucciarelli, mother-in-law Paolina LaRocca Giuliano Brugnini, brother Giovanne Bucciarelli, son-in-law Dr. Blair Murphy, special aunt, and uncle Joseph and Marianna Antonini. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Williamston Food Bank, P.O. Box 65, Williamston, Michigan 48895 Visitation Wednesday 3-7 pm with a Rosary at 6:30 PM at Stanley Turowski Funeral Home, 25509 West Warren, Dearborn Heights. Funeral Mass Thursday 10:30 am at St. Linus Church, 6466 N. Evangeline, Dearborn Heights.
