Briana Andromeda Purcell (born Bryan Arthur Purcell) passed away on June 30, 2026.

Beloved and loving son of John Patrick Purcell and the late Ruth Ann Purcell. Dear brother of the late Alan William Purcell and sister-in-law Sharon Smith. Briana will also be lovingly remembered by extended family, dear friends, former students, and all whose lives were enriched by her kindness, intellect, and dedication.

Briana possessed a lifelong fascination with astronomy, finding endless wonder in the stars, planets, and the mysteries of the universe. Her curiosity, imagination, and passion for discovery shaped both her personal and professional life. An accomplished author, she wrote nine books, sharing her knowledge, creativity, and unique perspective with readers.

A devoted educator, Briana earned a Master's degree in Science and Physics along with a Bachelor's degree in Mathematics and Accounting. She dedicated many years to inspiring students, teaching first at Fordson High School in Dearborn and later at Schoolcraft College. Whether in the classroom or through her writing, Briana encouraged others to think critically, ask questions, and embrace a lifelong love of learning.

Briana will be remembered for her brilliant and inquisitive mind, unwavering commitment to education, creative spirit, and profound appreciation for the beauty and limitless possibilities of the cosmos. Her legacy lives on through the countless students she mentored, the readers she inspired, and the many lives she touched throughout her journey.
