Carol Louise McIntire (née Durkot), born on March 15, 1937, in Johnstown, PA, passed away on Sunday, May 29, 2022, in West Bloomfield, MI. She was surrounded by her loving family. Carol grew up in South Fork, PA, where she met her husband, John McIntire, at the teen canteen. After her marriage to John, they moved to Dearborn Heights, MI, where she lived for over sixty-five years. Carol was a devoted and caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, and she loved the time she spent with her family. When her daughters were children, she was a Girl Scout leader and active in their schools. Throughout her life, Carol enjoyed cooking — she baked the best desserts, and she always had a spot at the table for family, friends, and neighbors. Carol was an active member of Good Shepard United Methodist Church. She enjoyed traveling and visited every state, Europe, and China. Carol also had a keen eye for antiques and curated many beautiful collections. She was preceded in death by her husband of sixty-one years, John McIntire; her parents, George Durkot and Virginia Durkot (née Brewer); her sister, Anna Jean (Jeanie) Koss; her nephew, Andrew Koss; and her son-in-law, James Wright. She is survived by her daughters: Alice Wright, Karen McIntire and husband Thomas Dodson, and Gail Golem and husband James Golem; her granddaughters: Andrea Wright, Paula Wright and husband David Oliver, Elizabeth Golem, and Julia Golem; her great-granddaughter Evelyn Wright-Benton; her sister Virginia (Ginny) Evans and husband John Evans; her brother-in-law Tony Koss; her nieces and nephews: Anthony Koss, Jay Dierling, Lynn Schmitt, and Jeffrey Dierling; and her great nieces and nephews. She will also be dearly missed by her grand-pets: Nali, Martha, Aggie, Wendy, Tinker Bell, Tiger Lilly, Betty, Honey, Kitten, and Pumpkin.
