Catherine Jo Cody

Catherine Jo Cody passed away on August 11, 2023 at her home in Dearborn. She was 71 years old. Catherine was born on March 19,1952, to Francis and Sophie Szymialis. She grew up in Dearborn as the middle child of five siblings - Fran, Roni, Joe, and Theresa. Catherine graduated Fordson High School in 1970, and she would later attend Henry Ford Community College to earn a degree and work in the medical field. In 1971, Catherine married Frederick Cody and the two were inseparable from that point on. They were married for over 50 years and had two children, Janice and Michael. Family came first to Catherine. She always made sure her husband and children had what they needed, and she was an amazing caregiver to her mother, Sophie. Catherine enjoyed playing board games and cards with family. She was a fierce competitor but was also in it for the laughs. She loved to crochet and sew and also collected dolls. Catherine was predeceased by her parents. She is survived by her husband, her two children and their spouses, and her siblings and their spouses. She will be deeply missed and forever loved. A funeral mass will be held at 10 am at St. Alphonsus Church on August 18, 2023, and a private luncheon for family and friends will follow afterward.
