Cynthia Ann Kopiwoda, born on July 4, 1958, to Edward and Sophie (Romanowski) Kopiwoda, passed away leaving a legacy of love, strength, and humor. She was the beloved mother of Eric Wilkerson and Aaron (Schala Churchfield) Wilkerson and a devoted grandmother to Dominic, Olivia, Lucy, Aaron Jr., and Atreus, who were the lights of her life.
Cynthia was a cherished sister to Thomas Kopiwoda, Gerald (Aimee) Kopiwoda, and the late Antoinette Wonsack and Constance Boedigheimer. Known for her quick wit and strong spirit, Cynthia was never one to hold back—she spoke her mind and stood firmly in her beliefs. Her honesty and humor made her unforgettable.
As a proud member of Alcoholics Anonymous, Cynthia recently celebrated her 10-year sobriety milestone, a badge of honor that meant the world to her. She considered her AA friends to be her extended family, finding immense support and camaraderie in their shared journey.
Cynthia had a deep love for God. She loved the sun and the beach, wherever it may be, and was a voracious reader. But above all, her family, especially her grandchildren, held her heart. She will be remembered for her warmth, resilience, and boundless love.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made for Masses in her honor.
A Memorial Mass for Cynthia will take place Thursday November 14, at 9:30 am at Ss. Peter and Paul Church (7685 Granville, Detroit, MI 48228).
