Daniel S. Paletko, of Dearborn Heights, passed away from complications of COVID-19 Tuesday, December 29, 2020. Daniel is survived by his two daughters, Ann Paletko and Marie Paletko, his sister, Claudia Cassidy (Patrick), and brother Gerard Paletko. He is also survived by his niece Dr. Andrea Cassidy-Bushrow (Eric) and great-nephew, Patrick Bushrow. He leaves behind many cousins, family members, and friends. Dan was predeceased by his parents Stanley and Helen Paletko. A longtime dedicated public servant, Daniel served as Mayor of Dearborn Heights from 2004-2020. Prior to that, he served as a State Representative and was a member of the Dearborn Heights City Council since the age of 21. Dan also was a Ford Motor Company retiree and CPA. Dan held degrees from the University of Michigan- Dearborn, University of Detroit, Wayne State, and Henry Ford College attaining two Masters Degrees. Dan was a member of the Knights of Columbus and an active usher at St. Linus Parish. He had several leisure time passions - his favorite, the University of Michigan Wolverines (GO BLUE!), Nascar Racing, and driving his Mustang. Dan was also proud of his Polish heritage. Visitation Sunday 2:00-8:00 pm at Warren Valley Banquet Center, 26116 W Warren, Dearborn Heights. Funeral Mass Monday 10:30 am at St. Linus Church, 6466 N. Evangeline, Dearborn Heights. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Daniel can be directed to the Dearborn Heights Rotary, Dearborn Heights Goodfellows, or St. Linus Parish.
