SKORA, DANIEL L. March 22, 1945 – April 22, 2018 Beloved husband of Margaret. Dearest father of Nicholas (Cherese Gould), Theresa (David Martin) and the late Katherine Marie. Dear brother of Gerald (Lois) and the late Louis Jr. (Phyllis). Dear uncle to many nieces and nephews. Daniel was the son of Mary and Louis Skora and grew up in the “old neighborhood” near St. Hedwig Church in Detroit. He went to St. Hedwig School from 1st through 12th grade and was Class President of his senior class of 1963. He started work when he was 16 years old at the A&P, which eventually became the place where he met his wife, Margaret, when he said “Good morning” in the afternoon. Dan and Marge married on June 28, 1969 at St. Alphonsus church. He graduated from the University of Michigan in 1977 with a Bachelor of Arts degree. Dan and Marge raised their two children, Nicholas and Theresa in the Dearborn area and have lovingly welcomed Cherese Gould and David Martin as future children-in-law. He loved his dog Chance, and enjoyed their midnight walks around the neighborhood. In recent years, Dan enjoyed spending time up north with his wife, going on his weekly “haunts” at Salvation Army and Goodwill, and spending time with his kids. Dan spent his professional career of 30+ years as a Print Producer at Young & Rubicam (then Team Detroit, now GTB). In his extra time, Daniel was a theatre reviewer for The Monitor for 23 years and for the last two and a half years, he continued reviewing through his own blog “it’s All Theatre” (www.itsalltheatre.com). He built long-lasting relationships with almost 30 professional theatres in the Metro Detroit area and wrote over 70 reviews in one season. He loved the arts and live theatre and most of all, he loved to write. Family will receive friends Wednesday from 2-8 pm with Scripture Service at 7 pm at Stanley Turowski Funeral Home, 25509 W. Warren, Dearborn Heights. Instate Thursday 10:00 am at St. Kateri Church until the time of Mass at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the family, Salvation Army or Capuchins.
