EARL HENRY JOHNSTON, JR. 91, of Dearborn Heights, Michigan Beloved husband of the late Beatrice Juanita; Loving Father of Bryce Edward, Mark Stephen, (Marilyn) Earl Henry III, Sharon Kathleen (Don Cochran), and Heather Lynn. As many young men did in 1944, Earl joined the Army right after his graduation in January, and took Boot Camp and MP training in Georgia, before shipping out for Okinawa in the Pacific Theater, just before the end of WW II. Returning soon after the cessation of hostilities, Earl worked various jobs, learning brick masonry, electrical and cement work. He eventually landed at Massey Ferguson Tractors in Detroit, where he was employed for 32 years. He was very active in the Agricultural Implement Council of the UAW Local 174. He served on several committees, most notably Contract Negotiations, and spent a term as Financial Secretary. When his plant closed in 1984, as the Company returned to Canada, Earl was instrumental in negotiating Lifetime health insurance coverage for all remaining employees and their spouses. Although the contract has passed through many hands in the intervening years, that coverage is still in effect! Earl was an avid golfer, always striving to improve his game. In the Winter, he was on the Plant's bowling league, bringing home several trophies over the years. In addition to his five children, Earl is survived by eleven Grandchildren, Christopher, Kevin and Bryan, (Bryce), Jamee, Joshua and Ian, (Mark), Donald Jr., Aaron and Alexandria (Sharon), and Mitchell and Grace, ( Heather). He also is survived by four Great-grandchildren, Elizabeth and Tyler Johnston, Kylee and Carter Langston, and three "Great-greats"...Lillyann Bryant, Aidan and Sawyer Rosa, ( Rose'). Earl is also survived by two sisters, Ramona, (Soutar), and Mary Ann ( Farley), plus many nieces and nephews. Earl will be laid to rest next to his late wife of 44 years, Beatrice Juanita.
