Elizabeth Mary Hudzik passed away peacefully on August 1, 2023, at the age of 89. Born on May 8, 1934, in County Kildare, Ireland, she was the cherished daughter of the late Edward and Mary O'Brien. In 1957, Elizabeth made the courageous journey to America, seeking new opportunities. However, her heart remained tied to her homeland, Ireland, where she longed for the perfect cup of tea only her memories could recreate. Elizabeth was a woman of simple joys and loved dancing, cooking, all genres of music, and had a soft spot for animals, especially birds. Feeding the birds brought her immense joy and connected her to the beauty of nature. Traveling back home to Ireland and relaxing on the beaches in Florida were two things Elizabeth looked forward to the most. She cherished her visits to her birthplace, reminiscing about old times and reconnecting with her Irish roots. She also enjoyed creating simple meals for her family, friends, or whoever came to her door. Elizabeth is survived by her loving children: Patrick (Marianne) Meehan, Brien (Amy) Meehan, Mary (the late Billy Merrifield) Meehan, and Sean Meehan. She was also the adored sister of May and Joe. Elizabeth was preceded in death by her siblings Tom, John, Jim, Paddy, Liam, Edward, Joseph, Mick, Dermot, Anne, Sadie, and Bridget. She now joins them in eternal rest, surrounded by their love. A visitation in honor of Elizabeth's life will be held on Saturday, with visitation beginning at 9:00 am at St. Linus Church, 6466 N Evangeline St, Dearborn Heights. The funeral mass will commence at 9:30 am, celebrating the remarkable life of this extraordinary woman.
