Frank J. Rochna

February 26, 1936 — March 11, 2022

Frank Joseph Rochna, age 86, dual-time resident of Westland, Michigan and Bayonet Point, Florida passed away peacefully on Friday, March 11, 2022. Frank was born on February 26, 1936, in Scranton, Pennsylvania, the only son of Frank and Pearl (Fialkowski) Rochna. Frank moved, with his family, to Detroit, Michigan at the age of seven. He graduated from St. Andrews High School in 1953. He was a Korean War Veteran and had a long career working in the Natural Gas Pipeline Industry in various positions in Engineering and Natural Gas Operations. He retired from Coastal Corporation, as a Supervisor of Gas Dispatch, after 40 dedicated years of service. If you met Frank, you would become a friend for life. He was a gracious and consummate host and had an engaging personality. He went to the “School of Experience and the College of Hard Knocks” and could fix pretty much anything and was always willing to offer a helping hand. He loved golf, his beer and connecting regularly with the group of life-long friends he had made during his long career and the many joyful years he spent as a member of the Beacon Woods Condominium community in Bayonet Point, Florida. Frank kept in touch with EVERYONE. He had a memory like an elephant and always had a story to tell or a joke to share. He had a knack for party planning and made one hell of a “liver pate ball”. For Frank, it was always “5’oclock somewhere”! His joy and gratefulness for the life he lived, the friends he had made and the family who loved him was boundless. He was greatly loved by many and will be sorely missed. Frank was preceded in death by his siblings Ceil Rochna and Anne Sudzinski. He is survived by Carol Temple, his longtime friend and partner, his five children: Karen (Andy) Giglio, Denise (Martha) Rochna, Scott Rochna, Jeff (Donna) Rochna and Frank (Laurel Blackwell) Rochna and seven grandchildren: Julia Rose and Charlie Giglio, Shayna Meers, Matthew and Andrew Rochna, and Valeria and Maddox Blackwell-Rochna. A “Celebration of Life” for Frank is planned for Thursday, March 31st, with visitation from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Stanley Turowski Funeral Home (25509 West Warren, Dearborn Heights, Michigan 48127). On Friday, April 1st, a Memorial Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. until time of Memorial Service at 11:00 a.m., at Stanley Turowski Funeral Home followed by a luncheon at DeLuca’s Restaurant (27424 Warren Road, Westland, Michigan 48195). Please join us in celebrating Frank’s life in the way he loved best! In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested to Disabled American Veterans (DAV), the Wounded Warrior Project, the VFW, or the charity of your choice.
