Beloved Husband of Barb for 55 years. Dearest father of Scott (Judy) Wolak, Brad Wolak, and Carrie (Jason) Bloink. Loving grandpa of Ben (Elizabeth), Emma, Joe, Kate, Sam, and Justin. Dear brother of Carol (Dan) Decker and Tonnie (David) Wolak-Jorza. Dear brother-in-law of Jerry Shpakoff and Sue Grzesiek. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Gary served proudly in the Vietnam war with the United Sates Navy.
Gary was a jack of all trades who could fix just about anything. He also enjoyed sitting down at the blackjack table for a few hands, and when the cards were right, he was never afraid to double down. He loved coaching his children’s youth sport teams, he enjoyed following his grandkids' activities and rooting them on.
Joe asked his grandfather if he would give him his first salute when he is commissioned as a Marine Corps officer in December. Now, he will be giving that salute from heaven.
Visitation, Friday from 3:00-7:00 pm with Rosary at 7:00 pm at Stanley Turowski Funeral Home, 25509 W. Warren, Dearborn Heights. Instate Saturday at 9:30 am until time of Mass at 10:00 am at St. Alphonsus-St. Clement Parish.
Family suggests memory donations to St. Jude Hospital or Fisher House Michigan.
