Girrard "Jerry" Zalno

Girrard "Jerry" Zalno, born June 29, 1953, passed away on June 30, 2024. He was the beloved son of the late John and Virginia Zalno, and is survived by his siblings Paul (Diane), Marianne (James) Matthews, and John (the late Brenda). Jerry was a proud uncle to his nieces and nephews. Jerry cherished his childhood dream of becoming an artist and utilized his creativity in daily life, excelling in repurposing and repair. He was a patriotic and proud Marine, deeply committed to his country. An avid supporter of Detroit sports, he cheered passionately for the Lions, Tigers, and Red Wings. In his leisure time, Jerry enjoyed bicycling and barbecuing in Hines Park. For over 40 years, he played baseball with his Tuesday family at Hines Park, eventually transitioning to playing cards with them in their senior years. He valued his friendships dearly, often bonding over barbecues and beer. Visitation will be held on Wednesday at 9:30 am at St. Thomas the Apostle Church (31530 Beechwood Ave, Garden City, MI 48135), followed by a funeral Mass at 10:00 am. Jerry will be laid to rest at the St. Hedwig Wall of Christianity. In lieu of flowers make a donation to your favorite charity. Your long journey is over. Rest in peace, Jerry.
