Harold E. Olszewski Sr.

Harold Edward Olszewski, Sr., loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather passed away on May 18, 2023 surrounded by his family. Harold was born to Walter and Antoinette Olszewski on June 25, 1931 in Hamtramck, Michigan. He was 91 years old. Harold was the beloved husband to Jennie for 69 years. They built a life filled with devotion to each other, a shared deep Catholic faith, 7 children, 17 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren. Harold’s family was his world. Harold served in the Air Force during the Korean War and was an employee of General Motors for over 37 years. He was a member of the Polish Legion of American Veterans Post 16 for over 50 years. Harold served as the PLAV Post 16 Commander, Michigan State Commander and held various positions at the National level. He volunteered tirelessly at the Veterans Hospital in Ann Arbor for many years. Harold loved family gatherings, all Westerns, and had a special affinity for John Wayne. He was known for his sense of humor, courage, indomitable strength, and the ability to persevere. Harold is survived by his wife Jennie, his children Karen (John Salveta), Harold Jr., Diane, Janet (Michael Simeone), James (Linda Maigle), the late Linda (Frank Gonzalez), and Laura Allen. Adored Grandfather to Danielle, Alexandra, John, Joshua, Justin, Jennifer, Gabrielle, Lukus, Abigail, Matthew, Skylar, Cece, Antonio, Noah, Ana, Erica, and Veronica. Great More Grandpa to Aubrianna, Johnny, Wesley, and Quinn. Brother to Rita Pastucha. Visitation Sunday from 1-8 pm with PLAV Military Honors at 6:30 pm and Rosary at 7:00 pm at Stanley Turowski Funeral Home, 25509 W. Warren, Dearborn Heights. Instate Monday at St. Aidan Church(17500 Farmington Rd, Livonia, MI 48152) at 9:00 am until time of Mass at 9:30 am
