Helen A. Oleszkowicz Born August 16, 1929, in Detroit Died April 3, 2021, in Dearborn She was one of six children of Frank and Mary Baran and grew up in Detroit. Married John Oleszkowicz on July 16, 1949, at St. Cunegunda in Detroit. Mom graduated from Chadsey High School and briefly worked at Awrey bakery and Burton Abstract before helping her husband manage a shoe store and a family movie theater. Mom always commented on how friendly the Awrey family members were to their employees. The majority of her life was spent raising her family and helping with all her grandchildren. She spent considerable time as a cook, and chauffeur for her family and for neighbors. Mom was a simple person who enjoyed watching the Tigers and Red Wings, especially when they were winning. The last time she watched TV, was when the Tigers won their opening game on April 2, 2021. A typical Detroit opener, cold and snowy. But they did win the game against rivals Cleveland!
