Inez M. Burke

BURKE Inez Mary (nee Costello): Inez, age 90, entered the Lord’s Kingdom peacefully on January 6, 2018 with her family by her side.   Preceded in death by her beloved husband of 62 years Ed (2016).  Loving mother of Mike (Suzanne), Pat (Mary Anne), Paul (Susan), Tom (Pamela), Gerry (Janet), Tim (Kimberly) and Mary Beth. She was also the proud Grandma to 15 grandchildren: Kerri (Danny), Ryan (Jennifer), Amelia (Michael), Lauren (Mario), David, Meghan, Audrey, Jennifer, Leslie, Jaclyn, Morgan, Brendan, Jack, Riley and Bennett.  Great-Grandma to Cecilia.  Also survived by her sister Helen (Gerry) O’Brien of Chatham and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.      Born and raised in Chatham, Ontario Canada, Inez received her Nursing Diploma in May 1948 and eventually moved to Detroit to work at Mt. Carmel Hospital.  She later met Ed and they were married in January 1954.  She was a full-time homemaker, raising six boys and one girl while juggling their many school and sporting events.   In later years she was very active in the church choir, volunteering at Mt. Carmel Hospital and travelling around the world with Ed.  In between she always found time to attend as many of her grandchildren’s activities as possible and of course spending a lot of time at the family cottage in Erie Beach.            Inez left an incredible legacy of love, faith, friendship and service. She always had a smile on her face and a story to tell.    A Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church in Grosse Pointe Woods, Michigan on Saturday, January 20, 2018. The family will receive family and friends beginning at 9:30 a.m. until the Mass at 10:00 a.m.  Interment will be at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery at a later date.      In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Providence Hospital-Southfield   Online at:  https://www.stjohnprovidence.org/donations   In Memory of:   Inez Burke
