Irene B. Miazgowicz

Irene Barbara Miazgowicz died peacefully in her sleep on October 21, 2018 in Hospice, after several years of failing health. Irene was born on November 28th, 1928 in Aliquippa PA to Slavic immigrants, John Babich and Mary Haluszczak. She was the oldest of 4 and was preceded in death by brothers John and Robert, and sister Mary Ann. She married the late WWII veteran Edward Miazgowicz from Aliquippa, PA on December 1, 1950 and moved to Detroit. Irene raised four children with Ed in Detroit and later became a nurse. After retiring, she moved to Clare, MI where she kept active with the church and volunteering at the local hospital.  Irene loved gardening and spent countless hours tending to the garden around her home.  In addition, she also maintained the flowers and grounds at the local VFW post. Irene was preceded in death by her late husband Edward, and leaves behind sons - Michael, Dave (Therese), Keith (Eileen), daughter - Denise (Jim), 9 grandchildren – Christy (Matt), Sarah, Mary, Michael, Kerri, Jonathan, Jamie, Matthew, Patrick, and great-granddaughters Amelia and Hannah. A private funeral Mass is planned by the family.In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Irene's name to the Alzheimer’s Foundation or Angela Hospice.
