Irene C. Stepien

Irene Clara Stepien was born November 6,1928, in Revin de Ardennes, France, to Adam and Anna Butryn. A few years later, the Butryns returned to their family farm in their native Pysznica, Poland, where Irene grew up and married. After World War II, she immigrated to the United States in 1949. Irene, who resided in Detroit, Michigan for 75 years, passed away on February 15, 2025, at the age of 96. Beloved wife of the late Ludwik T. Stepien. Loving mother of John (Carol) Stepien, Barbara (Alan) Stranyak, Christopher (Ellen) Stepien, and Mark (Susan) Stepien. Dear sister of Jozefa Butryn, the late Henryk, Czesław, Adam, and Stephanie Butryn. Dearest grandmother of Kimberly (Nick) Stanco, Jennifer (Jay) Munton, Rebecca (Roger) Tarr, Danielle (Brian) Wright, Kristen (David) Smith, Lisa (Brett) Emil, Alexander (Lauren) Stepien, Michael Stepien, Krystina Stepien, Angelika (Christian) Cooper and Sylvia Stepien. Loving great-grandmother of Garrett and Evan Munton; Kyle and Emily O’Brien, and Samuel Tarr; Brendan, Dylan, and Madelyn Wright; Joseph, Abigail, Kathryn, Samantha, and Lucas Smith; Elliot and Julian Emil; Quinn and Blake Stepien; and Luke Cooper. Irene is also survived by her sister-in-law, Bronislawa (wife of the late Henryk Butryn) and many nieces and nephews. Irene was also preceded in death by her parents, Adam and Anna Butryn, and son-in-law, Alan Stranyak. Irene will be deeply missed by family and friends.

Visitation Friday from 2-8 pm with Rosary at 7 pm at Stanley Turowski Funeral Home, 25509 W. Warren, Dearborn Heights. Instate Saturday at 9:30 until time of Mass at 10 am at St. Anselm Church, 17650 Outer Dr W, Dearborn Heights, MI 48127.
