James Francis Gedert, age 92, passed away on August 13, 2025. He was born on December 12, 1932, in Detroit, Michigan, to the late George and Gladys Gedert.

James proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. A man of many talents, he loved to tinker, invent, and create. His easygoing spirit, generous heart, and great sense of humor made him a joy to be around. Above all, he cherished time with his family.

An incredible athlete, James was a dedicated marathon runner who continued running until the age of 84. He took exceptional care of himself throughout his life, with only one minor ailment to speak of—arthritis in his pinky.

Beloved husband of the late Marguerite. Loving father of William, Ann (Brian Barbati) Gedert, Thomas (Gail), Martin, George (the late Rick Logan), Monica (Michael) Wood, Francis, and the late Mary. Cherished grandfather of 11, great-grandfather of 17, and great-great-grandfather of 1. Dear brother of Carol (Terry) Steagall, the late Margaret (John) Cullen, and Richard Gedert

Visitation Monday, 2:00–8:00 p.m., with a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. at Stanley Turowski Funeral Home, 25509 W. Warren, Dearborn Heights. In state Tuesday, 10:00 a.m. at St. Linus Catholic Church, 6466 N. Evangeline, Dearborn Heights, until the Funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m.
