James W. Mills

James Mills October 22, 1945 – September 7, 2020 After a valiant fight, James Mills, age 74 of Livonia, passed away peacefully on September 7th, 2020. A loving husband, father, and grandfather, he is survived by his wife, Sylvia, of 50 years; his three daughters, Julie Murray of Livonia, Angela (Dino) Cacciola of Canton and Heather (Richard) Cable of New Orleans, Louisiana; his grandchildren, Melissa, Kaitlyn, Emily, Anthony, and Lucas. He is also survived by his sister, Paula (Michael) Mathews of Bonita Springs, Florida. James is preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Sylvia Mills. James worked hard, proudly serving in the US Navy, retiring from the Detroit Police Department. James was loved by many and will be missed dearly. He had an infectious personality and could always make you laugh. Even in the hardest of times, he was always willing to lend an ear and provide comfort and direction to those who needed it. His laughter will live on in the hearts of those who loved him, as he was the most unforgettable person you would ever meet. A Memorial Mass will be held Monday, September 14th, at St. Edith Church, 15089 Newburgh Rd., Livonia, at 11:00 am. Masks are required while in church. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Michigan Humane Society.
