John M. Geisinger – June 30, 2025, age 62, of Livonia. Passed away peacefully,
surrounded by family, after a valiant battle with cancer.
John was born in Detroit, Michigan, to May and Edwin Geisinger on August 18, 1962. He was the ninth of eleven children. He graduated from Fordson High School in Dearborn in 1980. He was a master carpenter, builder, and jack of all trades, taking great pride in his work. Late in his life, he joined Ginosko Modular, helping build modular housing units that were later constructed on Jefferson Avenue in Detroit. While he was only there a short time, he made a big impression with his employer.
John was very proud of his Polish heritage and took it upon himself to learn everything he could about the family’s genealogy. He would often visit and clean the graves at St. Hedwig, Holy Sepulchre, and Holy Cross Cemeteries, honoring his ancestors. He taught himself how to speak Polish, not missing a daily practice in 2,301 days. He also made fantastic pierogis for every family function.
John was a big Detroit Tigers fan. He also loved to play the lottery. You could find him riding around after work in “Old Blue”, his van with over 250,000 miles on it, going to play his daily numbers.
Family meant everything to John. He is survived by his cherished brothers and sisters, Ed (Pat) Geisinger, Patricia Capozzoli, Janice (David) Kaminski, sister-in-law Laura Geisinger, Sharon Gorman, Bob (Rose) Geisinger, Greg (Linda) Geisinger, Gerald (Rachelle) Geisinger, and Jeffrey (Juliann) Geisinger. He was the beloved uncle to 37 nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, May and Edwin Geisinger, brothers James Geisinger and Michael Geisinger, and nieces Renee Geisinger, Susie Capozzoli, and Barbara May Geisinger.
John was always willing to help anybody, anytime, expecting nothing in return. He will be missed tremendously by all who knew him.
A graveside service will take place on Tuesday, July 15, at 3:15 p.m. at St. Hedwig Cemetery, 23755 Military Rd., Dearborn Heights. Donations may be made in John’s honor to the charity of your choice.
