John A. Larys

On Tuesday, August 13th, 2019, John Andrew Larys (Smiley), of Detroit, MI passed away at the age of 101.  He will be remembered by all those who knew him.  He served his country with honor during World War II and was a long-time member of the American Legion for over 70 years.  He was a devoted man of faith and always willing to help others.  He was passionate about many things including his love for Detroit sports.  Family was everything to him and lived by the motto love everyone.   John was preceded in death by his wife, Clara Larys, his parents, and eight siblings.  He is survived by his son Richard (Janice) Larys and daughter Colleen (Brian) Vogel.  Proud grandfather of Christopher (Allison) Larys, Amy (Rodney) Craft, Jason (Chantell) Larys, Kristin Vogel, Breanna Vogel, and Zachary Vogel.  Loving great grandfather of Matthew, Timothy, Andrew, Katherine, Kaylee, Brodie, Gavin, Gage, and Alexandria.  Visitation will take place August 22st, from 2-8pm with Rosary at 7 pm at Stanley Turowski, Funeral Home, 25509 W. Warren, Dearborn Heights. Instate Friday, August 23rd, from 10-11 am at St. Andrew & Benedict Church until time of Mass at 11 am
