Joseph V. Kosinski 1929 – 2018 Joseph V. Kosinski of Dearborn Heights, Michigan died after a short illness on Monday, Sept. 3, 2018, surrounded by his beloved family. A native Detroiter, he was born June 18, 1929 to Stanley and Cecilia Kosinski Joseph was deeply devoted to his Catholic faith, member of St. Linus Parish since 1960. He attended Assumption B.V.M. Grade School and St. Casimir High School (1948). Joseph was a Korean War veteran with honorable discharge from the United States Army; and an Honored Member of PLAV Post 16. He is a graduate of University of Detroit (1958), with a Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing. He worked as a Professional Sales and Marketing Representative, retiring in 1995 after 38 years of service from Knoll Pharmaceutical Company (formerly Boots-Flint, Inc. and Baxter International). He was a designated Industry Professional – Certified Medical Representatives Institute. Public Service Joseph was a concerned and active resident of the city of Dearborn Heights since 1960 – fulfilling what he believed to be his call to serve the residents of the city honestly and with integrity. His public service career began in 1973 on the City of Dearborn Heights Zoning Board of Appeals. He was elected to the City Council in 1978, serving as a councilman through 1999 – at times holding the position of Chairman. He returned to the city council in 2012 and served through his retirement in 2017. In addition to his service on the city council, Joseph was a member of the city’s General Government Pension Board since 1984, and as the chairman of the General Government Pension Committee managing the administrative responsibilities of the Dearborn Heights Employees’ Pension Trust Fund from 2000 through his retirement in 2018. Survivors Joseph Kosinski is survived by his wife of 62 years Regina (Grzywacz); 4 Adult Children – Sharon (Larry Kunst), Robert, David (Denise), and Joseph (Cindy); 4 Grandchildren – Brian, Kenneth, Karsten, Jenna; and many extended family members and lifelong friends. He is predeceased by his parents Stanley and Cecilia and siblings Stanley (Elenor), Helen (Leo), and Raymond (Marguerite). — Joseph was devoted to his Catholic faith and his role as husband and father, and public servant. His greatest pride was his family and was most happy when surrounded by family, with active banter, time for reminiscence and most importantly, laughter. We grieve this loss of our husband, father, teacher, and friend. He is an irreplaceable force in our family and we will miss him dearly. Family will receive friends Thursday from 2-8 pm with Scripture Service at 7 pm at Stanley Turowski Funeral Home, 25509 W. Warren, Dearborn Heights. Instate Friday at 9:30 am until time of Mass at 10 am at St. Linus Church.
