Julius Geza Simon

Simon, Julius Geza. February 2, 2025 Beloved husband of Genevieve. Dearest father of Michael (Catherine), Kathy Poslaiko, the late Stephen. Loving grandpa of Theresa Roberts, Emily Simon, Kelly (Adam) Lane, and Peter (Detra) Poslaiko. Dear great-grandpa of Madalin Roberts, Josephine Roberts, Grant Roberts, Grace Roberts, Dempsey Lane, Alexis Lane, and Anastasia Santiago.

Born and raised in the Del Ray neighborhood of Detroit, Julius embodied the values of hard work, dedication, and love for his family and community.

During his last semester in high school, Julius answered the call to serve his country, joining the United States Navy. He proudly served aboard a destroyer ship in the Pacific Ocean, carrying with him a deep sense of duty and honor.

Upon returning home, Julius married his sweetheart, Genevieve, and together they built a life filled with love, laughter, and devotion. They raised three children in Detroit, creating a home where family always came first.  Julius attended Wayne State University where he graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Education, then proceeded to get a Master's degree from the University of Michigan in Education.

Julius spent his career working for Ford Motor Company and later for Detroit Public Schools, where his strong work ethic and commitment to his community left a lasting impact.

Outside of work, Julius found joy in simple pleasures. He was a devoted Catholic who stressed the importance of faith. He was an avid woodcarver, crafting beautiful pieces with skill and patience. He loved flying kites, the freedom of the wind carrying them high into the sky, and he cherished camping trips that allowed him to be surrounded by nature and family. Most of all, he loved spending time with those he held dear.

Memorial Visitation Wednesday, February 12th from 2-8 pm at Stanley Turowski Funeral Home, 25509 W. Warren, Dearborn Heights. Thursday Memorial Mass at St. Sabina Church at 11 am.
