Kenneth "Kenny" Frank Sadek, born February 15, 1955, to Frank and Olga (née Bober) Sadek in Detroit, MI, passed away on July 4, 2024. Kenny was an avid sports fan, wholeheartedly supporting the University of Michigan—"Go Blue!"—and all of the Detroit teams, especially the 1968 World Champion Tigers. Not only did he love sports, but he also excelled in them. Kenny was an amazing athlete—he was a city basketball champion at SS. Peter and Paul Church in 1968 and a state basketball champion at Divine Child in 1973. His athletic prowess extended to baseball, even earning him a pro tryout with the Montreal Expos. As he grew older, he continued to enjoy sports through beer league softball and coaching youth sports. Kenny dedicated his time to coaching at St. Mel's Church and was a cherished member of the men's club for 18 years. He was a huge dog lover, especially devoted to his beloved granddog, Otto. Kenny also had a special place in his heart attending the annual Detroit Thanksgiving Day Parade, spending summers Up North on Lake Huron in Harrisville, Michigan, and religiously watching Michigan Football every weekend. Above all, he was an incredible family man, deeply committed to his loved ones. To know him was to love him—he made a lasting impact on every single person he met. His memorable warmth, sense of humor, compassion, big smile, and genuine care for others imprinted on the hearts of all. His devout faith in God guided his loving, gracious, and humble demeanor that permeated through all the relationships in his life. Kenny is survived by his beloved wife of 42 years, Marianne, his cherished children, Erin Sadek (Drew Rolsch) and Joe, and his dear siblings, Kathy (John) Wrobleski, Nancy (Tom) Kullman, and Tommy. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister, Emily (the late Jerry) Kosco. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 2-8 pm, with a Rosary at 7 pm, at Stanley Turowski Funeral Home, 25509 W. Warren, Dearborn Heights. Kenny will lie in state on Wednesday at 10:30 am at St. Sabina Church until the time of the Funeral Mass at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Penrickton Center for Blind Children and/or St. Sabina Church.
