Kenneth Eugene Stecker Jr.

March 17, 1942 — May 9, 2024

Kenneth Eugene Stecker, Jr. (March 17, 1942 – May 9th, 2024) was born in Detroit/Dearborn on St. Patrick’s Day. He was the only child of Kenneth Eugene Stecker and Marion Quarton Stecker (both now deceased). Growing up in historic Springwells Park there were many who lovingly nicknamed him “Pat.” Ken Jr. graduated from Fordson High School and then joined the US Navy. He was always proud of his time in the Navy living on the submarine. His time in the Navy was cut short when he suffered a broken leg during a training exercise. After the Navy, he married Mary Jane Rutkowski Stecker and they had six children together. They lived for many years in Farmington Hills. He had a successful career as an electronic technician at Honeywell, Sperry-Vickers, and Burroughs. Ken is survived by his second wife, Lavone Stecker, his six children, Renée Stecker, Bonnie Schmid, Paul Stecker, Sherry Higgins, Dawn Stecker King, and Corinne Stecker, in addition to his twelve grandchildren and one great-grandson. Beloved grandfather of Jordan Krcek, Dylan Higgins, Alexandra Higgins, Veronica Stecker, Valerie Stecker, Lillian Schmid, James King, Isabella King, Noah King, Quarton Stecker, Zaida Stecker, and Inara Stecker. Great-grandfather of Issac Krcek. Ken is remembered for so many things, especially his love of Lexington Beach off Lake Huron and his passion for road trips anywhere at any time. He was a traveler at heart making several cross-country road trips with his kids to visit his daughters living in Colorado and California. He enjoyed visiting scenic destinations, soaking in hot springs, and was always the last one to leave a swimming pool. Ken was also a history buff, and enjoyed tinkering with things to figure out how they worked. He was a fan of cheeseburgers and chocolate milkshakes. Ken had a childlike heart, living a simple life with a positive outlook, and an unwavering trust in others. His final resting place will be at Franklin Cemetery. Visitation Tuesday, May 28th at Stanley Turowski Funeral Home, 25509 W. Warren, Dearborn Heights from 2-8 pm. Visitation Wednesday, May 29th from 10 am until time of Funeral Service at 11 am at the funeral home
