The world lost a beloved mother, wife, daughter, sister, aunt and friend, Kimberly Tockstein Durham, age 53 to cancer on December 10, 2021. Born October 8, 1968 to Nancy and Paul Tockstein in Dearborn, MI. She grew up in Taylor, MI and graduated from Aquinas High School in 1986. She met her husband Terry on a golf course and they married in 1995, gaining a son and a few years following had her daughter Casey and son Tyler. They resided in Dearborn Heights, MI where she held the head cook position at Riverside Middle School. Kim is survived by her husband Terry, children Casey, Tyler and Jeremy, dog Stella, parents Nancy and Paul, siblings Sue, Terri, and Jim, and mother-in-law Maria. Kim battled hard in her fight against cancer and never ceased to give up her high spirits and positive energy. Anyone who knew her adored and loved her. She was genuinely one of the sweetest and most thoughtful people you could have encountered. The biggest snoopy and Elvis fanatic. She never strayed from trying to get her kids to play scrabble or watch Blue Lagoon with her. She didn’t care who was around she would dance around the house or try to sing, although extremely tone deaf, whether it was singing out her kids or dog’s names or belting out an Elvis song. Her last moments on earth were accompanied by Elvis Christmas songs. She was so strong and brave, she told us many times that she was not afraid of dying, but no longer being there for her family. Kim was truly a person beautiful inside and out. She had so many quotes that will be carried on through her family and children, but the one standing out here is that life’s not fair. She was taken from us far too soon but her memory will be carried on in our hearts and remembered forever. Kim’s celebration of life will be held on December 18th, 2021 from 10-12pm at Stanley Turowski Funeral Home 25509 W. Warren St, Dearborn Heights, MI, 48127. The family insists to bring a cherished photo with Kim in lieu of sending flowers.
