GURKA, MABEL (née BYRNE) January 21, 2014. Passed away after a long illness, 83 years young. Beloved wife of the late Edward for 56 years. Dearest mother of Thomas (Felicia), Catherine (David) Vettese, Joyce (Douglas) Doyle, and Elaine (Ronald) Sables. Proud and loving grandmother of 12 grandchildren. She was modest about her abilities and achievements. She possessed great strength and courage until the very end. Family will receive friends Friday from 1-8 p.m. with Rosary at 7 p.m. at Stanley Turowski Funeral Home, 25509 West Warren (3 blocks east of Beech Daly), Dearborn Heights. Instate Saturday 9:00 a.m. at St. Alphonsus Church (13540 Gould, Dearborn) until time of Mass at 9:30 a.m. Interment at Our Lady of Hope Cemetery, Brownstown, MI.
