Marilyn Ruth Nielsen

It is with sadness that on April 29, 2023, Marilyn Nielsen passed away in Florence, Alabama, at the age of 96. She was born on a farm in Clifton, Illinois. Going off to college, she met her husband and became an Air Force Chaplains wife. Their travels took them to Asia, Europe, and several places in the United States and all the while raising three (3) sons. She spent most of her life in Michigan, 1967-2014. Marilyn worked at Karmanos Cancer Institute for twenty-five (25) years. Upon retiring she traveled for years, which she loved. Marilyn loved the theatre, reading and enjoyed gardening, and growing tomatoes. She was an avid bird watcher and especially loved her Cardinals. She is survived by her sons; Joel and Daniel; grandchildren; Danielle Nielsen, Tanya Wright, Rachel Holt, Andrew Nielsen, Benjamin Nielsen, and Gabrielle Nielsen; and ten (10) great-grandchildren.
