Mary Sheryl McCalmont

Mary Sheryl McCalmont (Ammerman), age 75, passed away peacefully at home with her children on January 14, 2026. She was born on August 5, 1950.

Mary was a one-of-a-kind woman whose laughter and love brought joy to those around her. Mary especially enjoyed spending time at the slot machines at many different casinos that she traveled to. She especially enjoyed dancing and instructing dance, sharing her passion and talent with others, and found great joy in bowling, where her competitive spirit and laughter were well known.

Mary was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Edwin “Monte” McCalmont; her father, Chester Ammerman; and her mother, Mary Ann Ammerman.

She is survived by her daughter, Marti (Matthew Varga) Sward, son, Adam Sward; her grandchildren, Isabella and Tyler Maffesoli, and Emma and Abby Sward; and her siblings, Lee (Maya) Ammerman, Laura Andrzejewski, and Charles (Patricia) Ammerman.

A Celebration of Life will be held on January 24, 2026, from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Angel Food Catering (44850 N Interstate 94 Service Dr, Belleville, MI 48111). Family and friends are invited to gather to share memories and celebrate Mary’s life.

Mary Sheryl McCalmont will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
