Robert Paul Staroscik Jr. October 3, 1978 – June 28, 2024 Robert Paul Staroscik Jr., affectionately known as Bobby, Robby, Bryan Metro, Robby Starr, The Doctor, and “That Guy from the Blog,” passed away on June 28, 2024. Born on October 3, 1978, to Robert Sr. and Dianne (nee Pilat) in Detroit, MI, Robert was a beloved son, brother, uncle, companion, and friend. A natural entertainer and Detroit Music Award winner, Robert was a karaoke-trained vocalist and guitarist. His passion for music brought joy to many and left an indelible mark on the local music scene. Alongside his musical talents, Robert was an expert gambler who enjoyed frequent trips to the casino, sports betting, and scratch-offs. Robert’s love for travel took him to many destinations in his life. Among his favorites were New York, Los Angeles, New Orleans and Las Vegas. He made some amazing memories along the way. His affection for animals knew no bounds. He was a proud cat dad to Ziggy, Iggy, Cheeto, Rudy, Lorna and The Lethal Weapons and Daisy. While those were his babies, he truly loved every cat and dog and any other animal who crossed his path. Besides rescuing cats, he raised money and donated to various animal charities throughout his life. A gifted writer, he received the rare “A+” in his college creative writing classes. In addition to writing the most widely-read local music blog, he authored two books: his debut novel, ‘The Invisible People,’ and the follow-up, ‘Make-up Something.’ An aficionado of movies, books, music, sports and pop culture, he was often referred to as “The Quentin Tarantino of the Eastside.” He also excelled as an eBay entrepreneur, showcasing his diverse talents. A professional wrestling enthusiast, Robert found joy in the excitement and drama of the sport. A charter member of “The Too Much Fun Club” and the life of the party, he was also and loyal and fearless friend If you needed something, he would be there for you. He was funny and smart, unique and genuine. He stayed true to his beliefs and to his family and friends and himself. He is survived by his beloved mother, Dianne, and his dear brother, Raymond (Kristin). He was the cherished companion of Lucy, loving uncle of Emma and Pailyn, and dearest nephew of Dennis Pilat. Robert will be deeply missed by countless friends, fans, and all who knew him. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 1-8 pm, with a Rosary at 7 pm, at Stanley Turowski Funeral Home, 25509 W. Warren, Dearborn Heights. Robert will lie in state on Monday at 10:00 am at St. Linus Church, until the time of the Funeral Mass at 10:30 am. Interment will follow at St. Hedwig Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Michigan Humane Society or the Capuchins.
