Sykes, Robert Henry, February 15, 1935--June 15, 2016 Son of the late Joseph Sykes and Irene Ohsowski Beloved husband of Darleen Father of Laura (Gregory) Ochs and Joseph Sykes Grandfather of Gavin Sykes Father-in-law of Nicki Sykes Brother of Elaine (Bert) Morris Preceded in death by brothers Edward (Ruthmary) and Gerald Sykes Loving uncle of Michelle (Karl) Stembol, Susan (Joseph) Marok, Debbie (Bryan) Ickes, and Sandra (James) Rosbury Loving care giver of Jody, his very devoted dog. Loving “Uncle” to Mitchell (Rumelda) Moskal, Robert (Shirley) Moskal, Karen (John) Rodko-Tavares, Timothy Moskal, Bill (Edie) Rodko, Deb Wheaton and many dear others from his Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada family Bob graduated from St. Alphonsus High School in 1953. He served in the U.S. Army 1955-57, Second (Indianhead) Division. Stationed at Fort Richardson in Anchorage Alaska Upon return he worked at the family business “Rex Tool and Gage” in Detroit. In 1962 began employment at Ford Motor Company. He was a Journeyman Metal Model Maker at Old and New Body in Dearborn, Michigan. He retired from Ford as a Prototype Build Coordinator at New Model Program Development Center, Stamping and Assembly Engineering, Vehicle Operations Building. He was very grateful to Ford Motor Company, the UAW and Local 245 for helping him provide his family a comfortable lifestyle. He served on the PTG at St. Barbara Elementary School in Dearborn, Served for almost 30 years as an officer of St. Alphonsus’ Alumni. Longtime member of the Downriver Walleye Federation Favorite pastime was fishing and restoring his 1964 ½ Mustang. He was a lifetime member of St. Alphonsus and St. Barbara Parish in Dearborn and he lived his faith daily to the best of his ability. Bob’s family would like to thank Drs. Francis L Shannon and Amr Abbas, all the surgeons, surgical and support staff at Beaumont Hospital, Royal Oak. We are forever grateful to Beaumont’s outstanding ICU staff on 2 East. We also thank Dr. Dominic Marsalese and Dr. Wassim Younes for their care and concern for many years. Those who knew Bob knew how much he enjoyed putting up the St. Alphonsus’ Alumni tent at the annual Dearborn Homecoming!! Visitation on Friday 2-8 p.m., Scripture Service 6:30 p.m. at Stanley Turowski Funeral Home, 25509 W. Warren, Dearborn Heights. The family will also receive family and friends Saturday 9:30 a.m. at St. Alphonsus Church 13540 Gould St., Dearborn, MI 48126. until time of Mass at 10:00 am. In lieu of flowers, donations to Beaumont Foundation c/o Heart Valve Clinic, Dr Francis Shannon Group, P.O. Box 5802, Troy, MI 48007-5802. Please join us for a celebration luncheon at Lyskawa VFW Hall 6828 N. Waverly St., Dearborn Heights, MI 48127 located W. of Southfield Rd. E. of Beech Daly, and S. of W. Warren Avenue. Next to the Stitt Post. Bob’s ashes will be spread at his favorite fishing sites in Canada and Michigan.
