Ronald “Ron” Edward Desjardins Jr Ron passed away Monday, March 4th, 2024 at the age of 62. Born on October 16, 1961, in Wyandotte, to Ron and Carolyn Desjardins; Ron epitomized a life of dedication to work, family, and the love of outdoors. Family occupied an irreplaceable role in Ron's life. Gatherings with family brought Ron much happiness, with many shared memories that will forever hold a special place. A recent family get-together was particularly uplifting for Ron. Central to Ron’s life was the cabin he shared with Debbie in Clare, Michigan, where he could indulge in his favorite pastime of hunting (ethical hunting – “you eat what you hunt”) or simply enjoy the peace and tranquility of the outdoors. Ron’s love extended to his dogs, who were loyal companions on many adventures, spoiled endlessly with treats. Ron's latest in a long line of black labs, Bailey, may not have been the most adept hunter, but as Ron’s health declined in recent years, she provided him with boundless affection, comfort, and endless puppy kisses. Ron leaves behind a legacy of cherished memories that will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. He is survived by his devoted wife, Debbie (Heilstedt), his step-daughter Crystal (Rickie) Elkins, and his granddaughter, Faith. Ron is also fondly remembered by his sisters Ruth Desjardins, Mary Deskovitz, and Alice Brown and brother-in-law, Rich Heilstedt (Jen). Though preceded in death by his sisters Bea Roberts and Theresa Desjardins, Ron's spirit and memory will continue to be cherished by many nieces, nephews, and friends whose lives he touched. A memorial visitation will be held on Thursday, March 14, from 2-6:30 pm at Stanley Turowski Funeral Home, 25509 W. Warren, Dearborn Heights. A Catholic memorial service to celebrate Ron's life will follow at 6:30 pm at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to be made in Ron's honor to the American Diabetes Association.
