Sharon Lynn Gorman (nee Geisinger) April 15, 2026, age 70, of Dearborn. Passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with cancer.
Sharon was born in Royal Oak, Michigan to May and Edwin Geisinger on January 25, 1956. She was the fifth of eleven children. She attended Dearborn St. Alphonsus for 12 years, graduating in 1974. After graduation she attended Michigan State University. During this time, Sharon also worked for Michigan’s Governor William Milliken.
Upon completing her college education, she dedicated 25 years to a career with Northwest/ Delta Airlines. Sharon also spent 15 years with the Archdiocese of Detroit, where she oversaw the Protecting God’s Children Program, which empowered kids to report and prevent sexual abuse.
Sharon had fond memories of her childhood and trips to Camp Dearborn. After college, she discovered her love for travel. Her favorite destination was Italy. Sharon was a devout Catholic and saw three Popes in person during her lifetime. She was an avid reader and organized a neighborhood book club. She was also a big fan of the Detroit Tigers and the Detroit Lions. She attended many Tigers opening day games, and worked on the Super Bowl XVI Committee in 1982. In recent years, she enjoyed her most treasured role as “Nonna” and spending time with her grandsons.
Family was important to Sharon. She is survived by her adoring daughters Lindsay Gorman, Jill (Jordan) Cater, and Mickey Gorman (Corey Hileman), grandchildren Luca and Rory Cater, and former spouse and friend, Michael Gorman.
Sharon is also survived by her cherished brothers and sisters, Ed (Pat) Geisinger, Patricia (Leo) Capozzoli, Janice (David) Kaminski, sister-in-law Laura Geisinger, Bob (Rose) Geisinger, Greg (Linda) Geisinger, Gerald (Rachelle) Geisinger, and Jeffrey (Juliann) Geisinger, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Paul (Susan) Gorman, Patrick (Carol) Gorman, Mary Gallagher, Maureen Gorman, Margaret (Jeffrey) Adams, and Maria (Robert) Weir. She was the beloved aunt/great aunt to 73 nieces and nephews, and dearest friend to many.
She was preceded in death by her parents May and Edwin Geisinger, in-laws Catherine and Robert Gorman, brothers James Geisinger, John Geisinger and Michael Geisinger, brother-in-law Timothy Gorman, and nieces Renee Geisinger, Susie Capozzoli, and Barbara May Geisinger.
Sharon was always one to tell it like it is, and in her final weeks, she never lost her sense of humor making those around her laugh. She will be truly missed.
The family would like to especially thank the team at Angela Hospice for the compassion and care they provided during Sharon’s final weeks, as well as Henry Ford Hospital Detroit.
