Beloved sister of Virginia (the late Richard) Nawrocki, Veronica (the late Rich) Suchyta, Stephen (Helen), Julie (the late Mike) Swiecicki, Elizabeth, the late Viola (Norbert) Motowski, and the late Margaret (the late Charles) Bizoe. Beloved daughter of the late Hilda and Jesus. Dearest aunt to many nieces and nephews. Loving pet mom of Josie, Peggy, Hiedi, Cleo, and Pilgrim.

After a valiant struggle with the effects of reoccurring strokes, Susan Mary Garcia died peacefully on February 4, 2026. From downriver Detroit, Susan grew up in River Rouge, graduated from Our Lady of Lourdes High School and went on to have a thirty- year career as a Redford mail carrier, and just coincidentally passed on National Mail Carriers Day. The eighth of nine children, Susan had an endearing child-like quality, an outrageous sense of humor, and an innate tendency to shrug off the bothersome to the delight of family and friends. Imbued with an adventurous spirit, Susan travelled the globe as often and as long as she could. A TCM devotee and lover of music, Susan will be remembered for her compassion for others, her friendliness and strong love and affection for family, animals, particularly cats, fine wine and a cream puff hot fudge sundae. She cherished sibling weekly outings to Penny’s, Target and the Town Peddler and treks with sisters to Motown casinos to play the slots. Susan Mary was the jackpot of the Garcia family and will be sorely missed.

Visitation Tuesday 4:00 -7:00 pm with a Rosary at 6:00 pm at Stanley Turowski Funeral Home, 25509 W. Warren, Dearborn Heights. Instate Wednesday 10:00 am at St. Linus Church until the Funeral Mass at 10:30 am.
