Thomas N. Czerwienski, age 83, of Williamsburg, MI, passed away peacefully on January 27, 2025, at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City, MI, surrounded by his loved ones. Born on November 2, 1941, in Detroit, MI, to Walter and Helen (Neszala) Czerwienski, Tom was a man of great kindness and integrity.
Tom's educational journey began at the University of Detroit High School, followed by undergraduate studies at the University of Detroit. He later transferred to Wayne State University, where he earned a bachelor's degree in accounting, and pursued further studies at Walsh College towards a master's degree in taxation.
In 1970, Tom met Beverly Reardon while working at the Detroit Bank and Trust. They married in 1971 and settled in Dearborn Heights, MI, with Beverly's four children. In 1980, the family moved to Traverse City, MI, where Tom took on the role of Trust Tax Officer at Traverse City State Bank. He dedicated many years to the banking industry, navigating several mergers, and later served as a sole practitioner for tax clients, some for over forty years.
Tom was a man who cherished relationships, known for his generosity and honesty. He enjoyed reminiscing about his work in Detroit and Traverse City, as well as vacations and time spent at the family cottage with his wife, children, and grandchildren. His love, laughter, jokes and stories will be truly missed. Tom’s love for golf, hockey, tennis, and softball was well-known, and he participated in many local golf outings and leagues.
Tom and Beverly shared a love for travel, embarking on numerous adventures with family and friends, maintaining close ties with six couples from the Detroit area. Their bond remained strong through many vacations and gatherings.
Preceded in death by his beloved wife Beverly, his parents, sister Florence Feliczak (Bruce), and daughter Karen Lorne Naegle (Tom), Tom leaves behind a loving family: children Michael Reardon (Doreen), Kathleen Ruonavaara (Todd), and Thomas Reardon (Carrie); nine grandchildren: Alexander Lorne (Megan), Sarah Lorne, Chelsea Bigger (Preston), Michael Reardon (Courtney), Kayla Reardon, Ryan Ruonavaara (Sharon), Megan Russell (Ian), Alysse Martinez (Elmer) and Brooke Swy (Cody), as well as fifteen great grandchildren: Evan, Jonah, Aidan, Amelie, Evelyn, Addison, Isla, Emersyn, Wyatt, Sylvia, Grace, Ethan, Sarae, Landon, and Quinn, sisters Phyllis Reaper and Judi Baran; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Memorial Visitation will be held on Friday, April 25, 2025, at Stanley Turowski Funeral Home in Dearborn Heights, MI, from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm. A Memorial Mass will take place on Saturday, April 26, 2025, at St. Alphonsus Church in Dearborn, MI, at 10:00 am.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation , St. Jude Children’s Hospital , or a charity of one's choosing.
