Thomas "Tom" Martin Waligorski, born on May 23, 1943, in Detroit, Michigan, to Alphonse and Eleanor Waligorski, passed away on June 22, 2024, at his home in Dearborn Heights. Tom was the beloved husband of Carole, with whom he shared many wonderful years. He was a loving father to Amy Rogers, Matt, and Andrea (Mike) Waker. He was cherished as Grandpa Tom to Kallie, Nick, Grace, Claire, Jack, Katie, Alex, and the late Thomas. Tom is also survived by his sister, Sue Terry, and many loving nieces, nephews, and friends. A true sports enthusiast, Tom loved all sports and devoted much of his life to coaching baseball, football, and basketball. His passion for athletics began early, as he played college football at Central Michigan University. Tom's love for nature was evident in his favorite pastimes, which included walking his dogs at Rouge Park, hiking, pheasant hunting, and fishing. His deep appreciation for the outdoors was a defining aspect of his life. For over 50 years, Tom was the proud owner of Waligorski Roofing, earning respect and admiration for his hard work and dedication in the Dearborn Heights community. Above all, Tom loved spending time with his family, making everyone laugh with his quick wit and infectious humor. He had a unique gift for bringing joy to those around him and creating lasting memories filled with laughter and love. His ability to connect with people from all walks of life was remarkable; he truly was "the man, the myth, the legend." A Celebration of Life will occur Saturday, June 29th, at the American Legion Carl E. Stitt Post 232, 23850 Military Rd, Dearborn Heights from 12:00-4:00 pm. Instead of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Pheasants Forever or Come Play Detroit.
