Walter S. Bala

BALA, WALTER S. Age 94. Beloved Husband of the late Wanda. Dearest Brother of the late Lillian, Michael and Vincent. Also leaves behind many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends. Employed for 62 years at F.B. Wright Company. Proud World War II and Korean War Veteran.  Walter joined the Army Air Corps at age 19 in 1943. Though he previously had never been on an airplane, he was trained as an airplane mechanic and attended gunnery school with the 24th bomber squadron. Stationed in England during the war in Europe, Walter flew on 35 combat missions, Crash landing on one occasion. Walter was discharged three years later, but was called up for one year to serve in the Korean War. Walter attained the rank of Technical Sargent Family will receive friends Friday from 3-8 pm with Testimonials at 7 pm at Stanley Turowski Funeral Home, 25509 W. Warren, Dearborn Heights.
