KUBIK, WILLIAM A. July 29, 1923 - July 31, 2011. Bill was born on July 29, 1923 in Detroit, Michigan to John Kubik and Rose Bawol, both of whom were born in Poland. He attended St. Andrew Grade School, St. Casimer High School, and then Western Michigan University where he obtained his Bachelor Degree in Arts and Sciences. He went on to pursue his Masters Degree and Education Specialist Certificate from Wayne State University. Bill was a veteran of the United States Army Air Corp. For thirty-eight years he worked for the Detroit Board of Education in the attendance department. Initially, as a Truant Officer he worked passionately and diligently to instill the importance of an education on children and parents in his inter-city Detroit territory. He later became an Area Supervisor for the department and worked in that capacity until his retirement. On August 9, 1947, Bill married the former Helen Kadlubowski, who survives. They travelled extensively before he was afflicated with Parkinson's Disease including their annual trip to South Bend to watch his beloved Irish play football. Bill was very active in many organizations including the Usher's Club at St. Linus Church, PLAV, Knights of Columbus, and Friends of the Cardinal. He was also an Extraordinary Ambassador for Orchard Lake Schools. In addition to his wife, Helen, he is survived by three children, Bill (Bonny) of Monclova, Ohio, Susan (Greg) Pscodna of Defiance, Ohio and Gary (Liz) of Milford, Ohio, and three grandchildren, Dan, Steven, and Kaitlyn. Besides his parents, he was preceeded in death by six siblings. Family will receive friends Wednesday 1-8 pm at Stanley Turowski Funeral Home, 25509 W. Warren, Dearborn Heights, with PLAV Post 16 Military Honors at 6:30 pm and a Rosary starting at 7 pm. In state Thursday at 9:30 am at St. Linus Church until time of Mass at 10 am. Family suggests memorial donations to SS Cyril & Methodius Seminary (Orchard Lake), Parkinson Foundation, or Angela Hospice.
